3- Change yourself the nib of a Man
Step by step to change yourself your nib of Man 100 (same procedure for Man 200 and most Waterman), by Damien
1. Sections with, in the top right, a section and its feed without its nib. |
2. A section unmounted: the section screwing on the barrel (1), the short section (2) which receives the feed (3)
|
|
3. The interior of the short section

4. Direct view of the feed entering the smaller section (not easy with one hand ...)

6. Then, assembly with the section (screws into the section)

|
7. For the nib, if it’s wet (soaking of the nib section in water over night or an inked nib) it will come out easily, you must pull it out gently, little by little.
|

8. Put back the nib in position

8. Remettre la plume en place
8.1 Méthode de Damien |
To get the nib in it’s important to be careful. Once you start putting it in you must proceed in small movements from right to left.
|

8.2 Method of the Master, André Mora
The assembly of the feed and the nib is always made at the same time, by positioning the nib on the feed and by inserting the whole in the short section. For the Man 100, there is a "notch" in the short section to position the nib correctly. You will notice that it is rather simple to change a nib, except when the there is dried ink in the and the pen has not been used for a long time. In that case, you should not hesitate to soak the nib and section because it is necessary to avoid forcing. Sometimes, the rings around the nib are oxidized, it is necessary to change them: Contact WATERMAN SAS or André Mora for information; both of them perform this work for 30 Euros. |
